OUR HISTORY... AND OUR FUTURE

...

Mercy Maternity Home opened in 1999 as a response to the staggering number of abortions that take place in our nation every day.  During the thirteen years from 1999 until 2012, Mercy Maternity Home provided a place of care for pregnant moms and their unborn children.  During that time over 90 babies were born to the young ladies who lived there. We’ve learned a great deal about this type of ministry along the way and feel the time has come to expand the overall reach of what we do.In short, beginning in June of 2014 the focus will include women in crisis, both those that are pregnant and those who are not.  Our hearts will always be for the unborn child and the initial vision of Mercy Maternity Home. The home will still be a place that provides stability for moms as they journey the season of their pregnancy.  However, it is abundantly clear that many women in our community are facing similar life challenges requiring residency, care and guidance.  It is now our vision to expand the mission to include women in crisis and to broaden our radius of possible residents. Two specific details helped to clarify the decision to expand our vision.  First of all, during the 13 years of operation there have been short seasons at Mercy Maternity Home where we had few or no residents, and yet we have a home that can accommodate a minimum of six women at a time.  This new added layer of ministry opportunity will greatly expand the resident options presented to us.  Secondly, the number of women in crises has seemingly escalated in recent years and a home and program such as this will go a long way in bringing strength, dignity, support and opportunity to an increasing number of women in our community. We are so grateful for the financial support, volunteer network, and prayer that undergirds this ongoing ministry.  Quite simply, these three things have provided the foundation allowing us to exist for all these years. We are hoping they continue and even expand as we walk this new journey.
